In 2007 Mark Robinson came up with the Shiver brand, creating ITV Studios’ first label, and one which grew from its Kirkstall Road base in Leeds into one of the best-known factual entertainment brands in British television with series like Come Dine With Me, Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs, The Martin Lewis Money Show and The Nation’s Favourite… music series.
Over 20 years at ITV Studios Robinson won and executive produced nearly 200 different projects on ITV, the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky and UKTV, picking up BAFTA and Rose D’Or nominations and several RTS awards along the way.
The series and specials he worked on included May the Best House Win, Super Tiny Animals, The Dales, Tales From Northumberland with Robson Green, The 100 Greatests…, Executed, The Miners’ Strike and Me, Last Laugh In Vegas, Eric and Ernie’s Home Movies and numerous Nation’s Favourites celebrating the work of icons like Elvis, The Beatles and Elton John – shows which have been sold all over the world.
Robinson has worked closely with many of Britain’s best-loved television stars including Peter Kay, David Jason, Trevor McDonald and David Walliams, and with some of Britain’s biggest institutions and brands, from record companies including Sony, Universal, Warner Music and Apple Corps to the casts of series like Coronation Street and Emmerdale and the families and estates of comedy legends like Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson and Morecambe and Wise.
Wise Owl Films is Robinson’s new venture – a popular factual production company with its team based firmly, proudly, and wholly, in Leeds – celebrating, examining and reflecting popular culture and social history, bringing contemporary stories from the North of England and beyond.
